Background
Since 2000 the internet community has been working to establish a way for these non-English speakers to navigate the internet in their own language. The solution is Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs). IDNs are domain names represented by local language characters followd by a TLD or ccTLD like .com or .jp respectively.
For Example: هواشناسی.com or サンダル.jp
IDNs utilize non-ASCII characters and are for use in places where English is not the primary language. IDNs are available to be registered in most character sets and scripts allowing users to register domains in over 350 languages worldwide.
